Death by Screen

Credit
Passive gaze
eyes raised
stare blankly ahead
as if in a haze
sucked in
sucked out
body rigid
stiff
are you alive?
Get up!
Move!
Live, breathe-
why would you give your best moments to nothingness?
clock ticking
hours passing
sucked in
sucked out
What are you waiting for?
Life
passes
right
by…
time on the fly
idolatry like disease
rots the body and brain
slowly
dots and waves
penetrate
soul numbing satisfaction.
But, I will not bow before you-
you will not suck me in
suck out my life
All the world is not a stage
or
reality TV…
after all,
I have but
One Life To Live.

ah true that….tv can steal us hours and hours of our time… i'm not a big tv watcher – always find some more interesting things to do but the computer can be a time thief as well..oy

This has a lot of truth to it…. It is about the TV screen, I know, but I also think it could apply to the computer screen as well. We all need to move away…….for a while.

Hi Dawn! It takes a lot for some people to push back from the video games and TV. It can be a real addiction, as you alluded to…you provide a good wake-up call to us all, and like Mary said, even the computer screen.Happy Tuesday!Ceil

I actually initially named it Death by TV but changes it so that it would include ALL screens…including my personal nemesis, the computer screen.

Claudia, yes it can…the computer is the screen I have to be careful with…named this Death by TV first, but realized I was throwing stones from my own glass house, lol!

I watch 2 hours a week of tv, and 2 only. The Long Island Medium and Breaking Amish, tho I missed both this Sunday, boohoo. Not too badly sucked in. 🙂 But I used to be. Watched General Hospital with out fail. :)Give me Theresa Caputo or give me nothing on tv!!

Screening an alternate life can erase appreciation of the breathing life waiting to be lived.

Good thoughts. We all need to be mindful of how much time we spend in front of a tube.
