Brushing sleep away, the start of another day calls
rolling to my side,
 cat displaced from my middle-
slightly perturbed but for knowing movement means a meal
I greet my Blackberry
squinting in the morning darkness
checking my e-mail and wondering what I seek in the glowing light
before all
Sitting up, reaching for glasses
greeted by three quadrupeds who mean business-
hubby still sleeps,
I peek in on daughter, creeping open her door
overstepping clothes that are strewn on the floor
I stare at her sleeping face and see a baby still…
stumbling down the hall, two cats dodge my feet, as if I have forgotten them
bathroom visit like comedy show
with three animals competing for my attention
I am captive on a porcelain throne
amused at their affection
and lack of discretion
Glancing through the window, birds at the feeder demand their share
really?
Brewing coffee,
three bowls of food served,
 sure enough
I pad outside to fill the bird-feeders
Returning, seeking my favorite mug
and hoping that after providing for these little ones
He himself will provide meat
soul food
fat…
After all of this morning busy-ness
I sit
awaiting my portion…
Feed me, Lord.

So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

Some times too I have to wait until the kids are taken care of before I am fed. Good stuff.

Wonderful description of a mom morning–and our need for the Lord. I am in a new season of life; my mornings are more relaxed. I still do best if I have some time with the Lord.Enjoyed your poetry!
