His Bottomless Cup

All that passing laws against sin did
was produce more lawbreakers.
But sin didn’t, and doesn’t,
have a chance in competition with
the aggressive forgiveness
we call grace.
When it’s sin versus grace,
grace wins hands down.
All sin can do is threaten us with death,
and that’s the end of it.

Grace, because God
is putting everything together again
through the Messiah,
invites us into life—
a life that goes on and on and on,
world without end.

Romans 5:20-21 (The Message)
This morning as I sat on the back patio watching the sun’s ascent
and the frenzied feeding behaviors of the birds at the feeder,
I glanced over at my morning cup of coffee.
Noticing that it was almost gone,
I pondered the verse above and smiled sweet inside,
warm at the thought of it
(knowing that last sip was certainly cool by now).
Unlike my cup of coffee, His grace never runs out.
My grace cup is overflowing  because of Him.
Never-ending grace, that goes on and on without end.
Refill?
No problem!
Rejoice in this:
Grace wins hands down.
You are welcome to His Bottomless cup!
Praise Jesus.

And how good He is to let us run out of ourselves, though it can be extremely painful, to find His everlasting and overflowing grace.

Ooh, I wish I had read that early this morning…it would've been a great addition to my morning devotions and cup of tea. But I am savoring it now in the quiet of this Sunday afternoon. Thank you for always having a way to inspire me any day of the week!
